The 2008 Mazda CX9 wins North American Truck of the Year award

The 2008 North American International Auto show in Detroit, opened with the announcement of its pick for the 2008 Truck of the Year.
This year the 2008 Mazda CX9 beat out the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid and the Buick Enclave, the the other finalists.
The CX9 was a highly regarded competitor in the field but not many had expected it to beat out the new Buick Enclave which was competing on its home turf.
The CX9 was built specifically for North American needs with a 7 passenger capacity and trim levels to compete with other larger sized crossover vehicles. While Ford maintains an ownership interest in Mazda, they stress that the CX9 is unique to Mazda and only shares some structural and suspension parts with the Edge crossover vehicle.
