Toronto Man wins Chrysler’s Millionaire Contest

On Wednesday, January 18, SungPae Kim, 51, of Vaughan Ontario, went to the Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto to qualify for a chance to win Chrysler’s 1 million dollar grand prize in its recent “You Could Be a Millionaire” contest. However, Mr. Kim only realized that he was in fact the contest winner, when Mike Accavitti, Vice President Marketing, DaimlerChrysler Canada, unveiled a cheque made out to him for $1 million

“It’s a dream come true”, said Kim, a grocery store owner in the Toronto area, as he was presented with the $1 million cheque.  “I think I can leave some room for enjoying my life now”.

“It’s not everyday you have the chance to change someone’s life”, said Accavitti, who presented the cheque.  “He is a kind, hard-working individual and we hope he enjoys the money as much as he has already been enjoying his new Dodge Grand Caravan”.

Kim became eligible to win the million dollars in DaimlerChrysler Canada’s “You Could Be a Millionaire” promotion after purchasing a Dodge Grand Caravan.  Under the rules of the program, anyone who purchased or leased a new Chrysler, Jeep® or Dodge vehicle between November 10, 2005 and January 3, 2006 was automatically entered in a drawing for a guaranteed one million dollar cash payout.

“I didn’t think I had a chance”, said Kim.  “I’ve never won anything in my life prior to this”.

Mr. Kim plans to pay off his mortgage, buy a diamond ring or a necklace for his wife, Sun Sook Kim; and hopes to donate a scholarship to students in need of financial aid.

Leading up to the final draw, seven lucky Canadians each received $25,000 from weekly drawings.  Kirk Burney of Calgary, AB; Janet Baron, of Vernon, BC; Hal Henry of St. George, NB; Angel Kalo of Laval, QC; Timothy Burnham of Digby, NS; Ronald Polten of Landmark MB; and Rachel Draper of Barrie, ON were each chosen at random from over 33,000 online entries.
